The scope of the drug-abuse issue is inescapable and touches everyone in our country. An estimated 24.6 million Americans, age 12 or older, have used an illicit drug in the past month. This epidemic is particularly detrimental to the lives of our children.
Most people use drugs for the first time as teenagers. Every day, more than 3,600 kids under 18 try an illicit drug for the first time. This statistic is terrifying.
Another way to think about it? Almost 130 people die every single day from a drug overdose. It’s a national crisis.
Through Victoria’s Voice Foundation, we are taking aim at reducing drug experimentation, addiction and overdose death by supporting: Legislation to encourage locking up prescription medications, Legislation for the co-prescription of naloxone or Narcan and Implementation of a policy platform for random drug testing.
Stand with us as we fight this epidemic that is robbing America of an entire generation.
